This rare blue gem is only found in the Dominican Republic. Rediscovered in 1974, Miguel Mendez took his young daughter's name, Larissa and the Spanish word for Sea (mar) and formed the name - Larimar. This stone is photosensitive and should be stored away from light or heat or the colour will fade over time. The more intense blue, and contrasts seen within the stone, the higher the quality.
